Case of hair loss over eyebrows and moustaches
Patient: Mr. I
Chief Complaint: Loss of hair from the left eyebrow and moustache for the past 5–6 years. There was also patchy hair loss from the beard area. The patient reported itching over the affected parts before the hair would fall. He had previously taken Thuja M.T., Sepia 30, and Kali sulph.
General Symptoms:
- Build: Thin
- Appetite: Good
- Desires: Sweets and fruits
- Thirst: Increased; mouth feels dry and prefers to drink water frequently
- Perspiration: Profuse, especially over the body
Emotional and Mental State: The patient was reserved and introverted, keeping most feelings to himself. He preferred solitude and was not very social. His parents lived alone in Guinea, which caused him constant worry and emotional stress, though he felt helpless to do anything about it. He was impatient, hurried, and impulsive, yet timid and indecisive—often unable to take decisions independently. He admitted to being careful with money and meticulous in his work. His marriage, as he expressed, was not out of choice—he married primarily to immigrate to Canada, and he felt emotionally detached from his wife. He often experienced anticipatory anxiety, homesickness, and dreams of conversing with his father.
Treatment and Follow-Up: The patient eventually reported complete regrowth of eyebrow and moustache hair, with no further hair loss or itching.
Conclusion: Through a holistic approach addressing both the physical symptoms and emotional stress factors, the patient achieved complete and lasting recovery.
